Goblin Life Coach

Am I too much?

Almost certainly not. “Too much” is rarely a measurement of you — it's a mismatch report. You were probably standing in rooms not built for your volume, and read the discomfort as a verdict on your size. The goal isn't shrinking. It's finding the people and places your intensity is a gift. For goblins. Not for everyone.

From Goblin Life Coach. Said with love.

What does it mean to be “too much”?

Almost always, it isn't a measurement of you — it's a mismatch report. It means your volume, intensity, or feeling didn't fit the room you happened to be in. That's information about the fit, not a verdict on your size.

A campfire isn't “too much” for being warm. It's too much for someone who wanted it dim. Different problem, different person.

Why do I feel like I'm too much?

Usually because someone, once, asked you to tone it down — and you generalised it into a rule about yourself. Big feelings, big curiosity, big love get read as “a lot” by people who wanted less, and you learned to read their discomfort as your flaw.

It's a very goblin thing to be told. Loud, feral, deeply feeling — the world isn't always built for it, so you went underground. That's not the same as being wrong.

Should I tone myself down?

No. Shrinking doesn't remove the ache — it just relocates it inward. The work isn't less of you; it's better aim: where your intensity is a gift versus where it's spilling because you're nervous or unmet. Same fire, better hearth.

There's a difference between cruelty and bigness, and it's worth learning. But “quieter” is not the goal. Aimed is.

How do I stop feeling like I'm too much?

Find rooms built for your volume, and spend less time in the ones that aren't. Watch who leans in versus who flinches. Some people aren't your people — and that's allowed. You're not too much. You've been in the wrong rooms.

If it goes deeper than rooms — if “too much” has become a thing you believe about yourself in your bones — that's worth taking somewhere with more time. This isn't therapy.
